Finance Committee-
Meets 1st Wed. of each month
Elisabeth Stonehill
- Manage and oversee NRRA financials, including budget, income statements, balance statements, and cash flow.
- Guide decision-making around equipment needs and payment of bills/debt.
Fundraising Committee-
Meets 1st Mon. of each month
Mary Oster
- Assist in raising funds for outreach programs and Matthew Zucker Fund scholarships.
- Liaise with the Capital Campaign Committee to raise funds for the boathouse project.
- Identify opportunities for fundraising events throughout the year to feed the Equipment Fund.
Capital Campaign Committee-
To be announced
- Identify potential donors and cultivate relationships with these individuals throughout the year.
- Improve NRRA’s brand recognition in the community so we are no longer “Norwalk’s best kept secret”.
- Liaise with the Fundraising Committee to organize events that will both raise money and broaden awareness of NRRA’s mission in the community.
Communications Committee
Matt Labine
- Publish articles about youth/masters rowing results, as well as other NRRA events.
- Develop strategies for greater publicity in the greater Norwalk community.
- Explore creative uses of new media beyond the NRRA website.
- Create marketing materials for all NRRA programs and events.
- Produce internal communications documentation, such as handbooks, policy documents, etc.
Membership Committee-
Meets 3rd Mon. of each month
Sara Hayes
- Encourage membership growth through events such as Open Houses, BBB’s (Boats, Burgers, & Beers), corporate/university gatherings, coaching clinics, and local rowing events.
- Liaise with the Communications Committee about the publication of a Members’ Handbook and other promotional materials.
- Devise creative strategies for building, and retaining, adult membership levels and encourage greater sense of community between masters rowers and parents.
- Host the annual Bow Ball social/fundraising event.
Safety Committee
To be announced
- Develop safety guidelines for rowers, coaches, and other NRRA constituencies.
- Revise existing Safety Handbook and distribute among rowers/parents/staff.
- Develop an Emergency Action Plan.
Programs Committee-
Meets 1st Thur. of each month
Matt Labine
- Oversee and advise on the direction and implementation of current/future program offerings at NRRA.
- Develop new ideas to capitalize on the available equipment/staff during “down-times”.
- Organize and implement the first annual Community Challenge program as an addition to Learn-to-Row offerings.
- Review staff reports and meet with staff prior to monthly Board meeting to discuss any issues/concerns/updates and report back to the Board.
Personnel Committee
Matt Miklave
- Review and maintain staff job descriptions.
- Develop and implement performance metrics and goals for NRRA staff.
- Manage expectations of the staff and the Board.
Governance Committee

- Oversee the structure of the Board.
- Review and revise the NRRA Business Plan.
- Identify and cultivate relationships in the community for future Board of Directors members.
- Identify possible candidates (present or future) for the role of President.
Riverway Condo Committee
Matt Labine
- Maintain a professional and working relationship between NRRA and the residents of Riverway.
- Encourage Riverway residents to participate in club events and find ways to share our passion for rowing with our neighbors.
IT Systems Committee Chairperson
To be announced
- Address the need to upgrade the current NRRA server.
- Look for ways to integrate all systems and databases.
- Explore the ability to create a central calendar/database on the NRRA website.
- Confirm security of NRRA database and consider options for off
-site data storage/management.
Building Committee

- Re-visit the plans for the boathouse structure.
- Oversee any developments with respect to building permits, town approval, etc.
