5/26/2008- NRRA Qualifies for Youth National
Championships

Rowing Association concluded an exciting season at the Northeastern-Mid-Atlantic
Championships on Sunday, May 18 in Mercer New Jersey by winning a gold medal and
qualifying a crew for the Youth National Championships.
The boys
lightweight four of Luke Shannon cox, Lane Brokaw, Clay Baldo, Ben Stout, and
Tommy Cody won the bronze medal and an entry in the USRowing Youth National
Championships. Racing in Cincinnati, Ohio June 13-15, they’ll being going up
against the fastest crews from around the country. They’re now training
intensely and are eager to face the challenge.
The novice boys
second eight (cox Stefan LaMonte, Evan Boliakis,
Geoff Cushman, Jeff Mastrianna, John McGarry, Corbitt O`Connor, Sam Oster,
Charlie Watkins, and Scott Yanoff) had one of the tightest races of the day,
fighting rain and fierce competition to win the gold medal by less than one
second.
The boys first novice eight, (Jon Massari cox, Jordy Winslow,
Harrison Rappaport, Robert Johnson, Patrick Doty, Michael Squitieri, Matt LaMonte,
Stephen Zoeller, and Ryan Duffy), were out of the medals by one second,
finishing fourth.
The boys varsity eight (Connor Boyd cox, Tim Foley, Gus Vergara,
Michael Labine, Gordon Thompson, Tom Liederbach, Mike White, Jake Maguire, and
Frank Meade) went into the regatta knowing from past races that they faced a
very fast field, and they did, coming in sixth in a hard-fought final.
The girls novice eight (Maggie Robertson cox,
Michelle Bravo, Meghan Collins, Samantha Curt, Nicole Buongiorno,
Hannah Greenberg, Liz Jenkins, Mary Willis, and Katie Hanson) acquitted
themselves well with a strong race in their heat and a sixth-place finish in
their afternoon final.
The boys quad, (Aki Tas, Charlie Bartlett, Derek Emerick,
Rick Trismen) finished a close fifth in their race.
The girls varsity four (Dorothy Hallberg cox, Laura Cappio,
Delaney Foley, Tina Musilli, and Marissa Morgan) finished a season full of
challenges with a solid race, coming in sixth in a strong heat.
