"I love being out on the water first thing in the
morning, watching the sun rise and also get a great workout"
Doshi, Masters Rower
"Rowing
taps into & fulfills my love for the
water (I love to sit at my desk later in the day and feel the
rock of the boat). It is the therapeutic/meditative
qualities, the 'being part of the team' feeling even as a 'part-time' member, the
openness and acceptance of the Club members and Staff and the
complete workout (my knees and hip begin to hurt when I don’t row and the workout offsets the strain
of carrying luggage in high heels) that have given me a new & unique experience in my life.
"For me, it
has a very personal benefit of accomplishment. I think this is the first thing I’ve done, and
continue to do, where I’m not best or one of the best. Hell, I’m not
even good and I still show up and feel like I can conquer the world
afterward. Where others might gain the accomplishment feeling from
winning, in this case I’m getting it from the opposite…I’m doing
something for the pure joy of it.
"I credit the
sport of Rowing and the NRRA with affecting a significant and positive
change in my life. This one activity combines teamwork among friends,
challenge, fitness, and beauty so that my day begins with a complete
positive outlook. I’m healthier and I’m more accomplished since I began
rowing."
