Due to Mother Nature, rowers across New England head indoors for training to
prepare for the Spring season. The NRRA trains indoors at the Norwalk Senior
Center until our new boathouse is
completed.
Our indoor training is comprised of rowing on
ergometers, weight training,
circuit training and yoga/pilates with the
Nu-Yoga studio.
Racing Team members have the option of
attending our Florida Training Trip in February.
The Winter Racing Team
is the NRRA’s competitive youth
rowing program. The
Boy's and Girl's squads are divided into Varsity and Novice, with the Novices made up of
athletes with less than one year of rowing experience. These athletes are
preparing for the Spring Racing season.
The Winter Development Team is a three day per week
program for younger athletes. Emphasis is on technique development, physical
conditioning, and of course, fun!
The Florida Training
Trip is a unique experience in which Racing Team members travel to
Stetson University in
DeLand, FL and train for a week and race at the Stetson Sprints against other
Florida junior programs.
Scholarships are available for all of NRRA’s youth programs through the Matthew
Zucker Memorial Fund. You may
download an application form here. Scholarships
are awarded on rolling basis throughout the year. An interview with the athlete
and a parent is required before the start of the program.
Call our Youth Director with any questions.
